The Camping Trip

Camping was such a blast! After getting, um, let's just say "lost" for the sake of time, we finally made it to our campsite about 7:30pm. Adam was rather done with being in the car and Mommy had to play peek-a-boo and all manner of games from the front seat to try and keep him from screaming. Here's one of those happy moments in the car, he's just so cute when he's happy!

While Brian and I tried to start a fire (Brian was successful...thankfully!) Adam decided that he could help by picking up all the pebbles and relocating them. First it was on the picnic bench, then the fire ring, then the tent as we set it up and then IN the tent once it was up...he's so silly.
Here is Dad so patiently starting the fire. A nice gentleman thought he'd help us out with our fire issues by bringing the pump for his air mattress that he used on his fire--that sure worked!
Here's Adam with his walking stick (Dad's fire stick, but they were good about sharing). Adam just loved to be outside and with Mom and Dad. He was really good for the most of the trip. He only woke up once during the night and was fine sleeping in between blankets.

So, after we had dinner at 9pm Friday, Brian had to go to another campsite to pay the fee and it was too dark for s'mores (as our fire was just dying coals). So, once we got the fire started in the morning and cooked our breakfast, we had marshmallows. Adam enjoyed it! Who ever said you can't have s'mores in the morning???

Adam after the marshmallow sampling. He thought it was great!

In the morning before we headed out we went down to the little waterfall and creek that ran by the campsite. It was so nice to hear the water all night long--so peaceful and relaxing! All-in-all, it was a great trip and I'm happy to say we're going to repeat the experience. Adam really enjoyed camping and so I'd say he's definitely a good mix of Daniels and Haynie.

Oh a Camping We Will Go!

We're super excited! We're going camping tomorrow! After Brian got home from fathers and sons a few weeks ago we had to put up the tent in the garage for it to dry and I just got "the feeling." We HAD to go camping! So, since it's Memorial Day weekend, we're going camping...tomorrow. I'm so excited!! Stay tuned for pictures and I'm sure many fantastic stories thanks to Adam. Have a great weekend!

Those were peas?! Oops...

So I have to laugh at myself. I talked to mom on Sunday and was telling her about our exciting garden. She asked if I had needed to weed a lot yet and I haven't had to weed at all yet. Brian mentioned last night as we were headed to see a piano that there were some weeds in the top box. So when we got home I checked it out, pulled one out with the roots and thought, "wow, that looks weird--you can still see the seed!" Then I tried to pull out two more but couldn't get the roots. Adam was getting fussy and so we headed in. Then as we were taking Brian to work this morning I got to thinking about those weeds and how I needed to get out my gloves and get the seeds out. Then I thought about our zucchini seeds that just sprouted in our kitchen and I wondered when our peas would sprout that we planted in the top box...ahh!! I was pulling up our peas!!! I had completely forgotten that we had planted them where the "weeds" were coming up. Good thing I only plucked out one by the roots and two just got pinched off. Oops. What's life if you can't learn a little and laugh at yourself in the process??

Someone is Silly!

I was able to catch some of Adam's silly moments on camera. The other day I was going through some of the boxes down in the basement and Adam decided to help. He pulled these out, so I helped him put them on. Now he REALLY looks like his daddy!
We had the missionaries over for dinner last week and I made a no-bake cheesecake (no eggs...). Adam helped me mix and put in ingredients and I so I had to let him do what mommy did...he got to lick the beaters for the first time! I promise, no raw eggs were used...just yummy good stuff. He seemed to think it was the coolest thing since cinnamon in his applesauce.

This picture is Adam in his car seat on our way to take Daddy to work. He was fascinated by the rain that was pouring down outside. He's in his little booty-short PJ's I bought last summer for $2. I didn't think they would be that short! Thanks Scott and Melissa for the car seat!
Just a quick update on our weekend: Brian had fun at the fathers and sons, getting mud all over our car and having to be pushed up the hill to get to the campout. Just after Adam fell asleep and I was watching a movie a neighbor came over to tell me there was a tornado warning and tornado watch for the next 30-60 minutes. Being alone in your house with a little baby and a tornado warning dispatch is a little scary. Luckily, no tornadoes formed or touched down. But after being in the situation I think we really need to finish our 72-hour kits!

Time Out

Tonight Brian is out on the fathers and sons campout...minus his son. Adam got to stay home with me and be grumpy, get a bath, and go to bed a little early due to his grumpiness (he started the go-to-bed routine early, on his own). So knowing I'd be alone for the evening I got a movie from the RedBox at WalMart. Brian and I have been trying to find this movie for about two months, but we never seem to go at the right time. But today--I got it! I saw a trailor for it and my friend Jackie recommended it. I highly recommend it as well. In fact, tomorrow night after Adam goes to bed Brian and I are going to watch it together. I won't have to cry alone! The movie is called "Fireproof." There were a lot of great lessons that are applicable to anyone's life.

Seeing as the movie is about marriage I easily thought about my marriage. I see our marriage and then I look at other peoples' marriages and see the differences. But every marriage is different because each person is different. I find myself so happy in my marriage. So grateful to have such a wonderful husband. He is selfless and caring and one of my favorite parts is that he helps me with the dishes and with Adam. He always takes the trash out--I never have to ask. You know how we all have our favorite household chore? Maybe his is taking out the trash. Mine is vaccuuming. Back to the point...I am so grateful to have such a wonderful husband. He goes to work everyday so that I can stay home with Adam. He makes sure that we always read the scriptures together and say our prayers before we go to bed. Reading my journals from back in the day when we were friends and starting to date I wrote that I loved being around Brian because he made me want to be better. I find that fact still true today--Brian makes me want to be better and thus I try to be better. Thank you Brian--I love you!
