It's time for some more pictures!! April is shaping up to be a fun month! I am loving spring out here, minus the allergies. Adam loves playing outside and when it rains, we have a very sad and grumpy boy who pounds on the glass wanting to go out.

Our lovely tulips that finally bloomed! When Scott, Melissa & Co. came out for Thanksgiving Brian and Scott planted these in the fairly frozen ground in front of our porch. They were so beautiful when they bloomed!

Adam has discovered animals. This is our neighbor's cat, Baby Kitty. She always comes up to our door hoping for attention and Adam just loves to watch her. I feel safe having a pane of glass between them so he won't get scratched. If he's lucky, we'll even take him outside and let him pet her. Adam is fascinated with animals. When we work out in the yard and the cat is around, he just loves to chase after her.

Here's Adam playing with the tulips. Every time we go outside he always tries to pull the tulips out! It drives me nuts! But just for the photo books, I let him touch some for a few pictures. Brian was close by to keep him from ripping them out.

I just love this picture of Adam! During lunch, or any meal really, he likes to take his bib off but when he does, he is not allowed to eat. So the other day I told him to put his bib back on and it was so silly I tried to take a picture. This is the face he posed for the camera. Silly boy-I love him!

And of course we had to snap a picture of Adam crawling into his toy basket. He's so silly! Just now after a few quiet minutes in his room, he came up to me with a mouth full of paper. After I got it out I checked his room to see what he had eaten, but I couldn't find anything. Probably a label or a piece of a box. This kid loves paper. I should say he loves to eat paper.

And let's not forget the sweater that I crocheted for Adam. I made it for him to wear this fall, when he'll be 18 months. So I made it according to the pattern for 18 months. When it was all finished and I tried it on him and it was a little tight I remembered, he wears 18 month clothes now! Alas, this will have to wait for the next kid since the weather has been in the 80's for the last four days.

And one last picture...I canned turkey all by myself this week! And it worked! They all sealed and now we have turkey for casseroles and soups and anything else whenever we want. I'm working on our food storage and it feels great to be self sufficient and to be able to do things my mom can do. I'm growing up!

Happy Easter!

We all went to Chapel Hill, NC this past weekend for Easter. We're so happy to be close enough to visit family! We're so grateful to Scott and Melissa for having us over and so glad we were able to have such a good time. Here's a few pictures of Adam at the Easter egg hunt. He had a lot of fun!
Adam and Brian all ready to hunt for some Easter eggs. They're so happy!

Adam found an egg! Funny enough, most of the ones we found were pink.

He found a blue one! You can tell he enjoyed digging in the dirt. He's definitely a little boy!

Sorry the picture is a bit blurry, Adam was shaking it to hear the candy hidden inside.

These are really pretty and they were blooming just outside the institute building where the egg hunt was hosted. Sorry it's a little over-exposed. It was such a beautiful Easter!

Keeping with my family's somewhat-tradition, Brian and Adam and I got up and watched the sunrise on Easter morning. It's a great reminder of the resurrection and how Christ was resurrected, allowing us to each be resurrected as well and live forever. What glorious blessings the atonement and the resurrection are!

Some Fun Spring Pictures

I just thought you might enjoy some pictures of Adam. He's getting so big! He has now accomplished walking and is working on the running. My baby is growing up!Here is Adam out in our front yard, lovingly called "the jungle" as it had not been mowed (since we don't own a mower). We have a very kind neighbor who lets us borrow his and the jungle is now multi-green-colored grass from being cut short. Thanks Honey!
This is Adam's silly face. He loves being goofy and just started pulling this face lately. It's so silly and cute!

Adam on our front walkway. This is how Adam plays "peek-a-boo." When we prompt, "Where's Adam?" he covers his face, usually with only one hand. He's so cute!

Adam has discovered the apron/big tupperware drawer. He's so proud of himself! And those teeth! He won't hold still long enough for me to count them but there's at least 15!

Just Adam being cute and studying a stick he found in the front yard. He's such a sweet little boy.

The Weems gave Adam this great little telephone toy and now when we pull it out and tell him to "say hello!" he picks up the receiver and holds it up to his ear. It's super cute! This evening Adam picked up Brian's cell phone and put it up to his ear...he catches on quick.

Hope that all of you are well and know that we miss you!

15 pounds of UGLY

So the other morning I was taking Brian to work so that I could have the car to run errands during the day. It was a little after 7am and pulling out of the garage we back up so that we see our back yard. Guess what we see? For the first time that I can remember I see a living opossum. I've only seen them as roadkill. Man was it UUUUGGLLYYY!!! The thing was huge! And it just waddled across our back yard. We were afraid it was running towards the yard barn to hide out with Philipe, the ground hog who lives under there, but it just ran behind it and through our neighbor's yard. It was really not cute. Reminded me of the ROUSes from the Princess Bride. I think they must have used an opossum for the model, but tried to make it cuter since it's so ugly normally. Poor things. Since we couldn't take a picture of the one running through our yard, here's one from the internet. (http://www.aaanimalcontrol.com/opossumgallery.htm)

Happy Birthday Adam!

Our baby is one!! He's not a baby anymore...I feel a little sad that my baby is now a little boy. He grows up so fast! Yesterday was Adam's birthday party with just a few of his friends. He LOVED all the attention and possibly loved the birthday cake even more. He even got to have ice cream! Here's some pictures of Adam and the cake. Since I haven't been able to find a cake decorating class I decided to teach myself. This is a first big decorating project I've done, so bear with me. I've decided this is more fun than just using a snipped sandwich bag like I did in college.

It's a turtle cake!

And he's happy to come to the birthday party. This took me a really long time but it turned out cute.

Adam smiling after his first round of cake. He sure liked it!

Adam during his second round of cake, this time with ice cream and he sure loves it! He's so cute! He got icing up his nose, in his hair, and I found cake in his diaper. He's great at making messes!

After opening presents and having fun with his friends. Thank you all for coming! And thank you to family who sent birthday presents--he's really enjoying them!

Stay posted for the birthday video.
